Winter Expedition 2008 - Kandersteg

Diary

Saturday 2^nd February 2008

We left Ashbourne at 01:00 and travelled by coach to London St Pancras where we waited for the 06:55 train to Paris: “keeping track of the luggage this time!!”

We arrived in Paris Nord at 10:25 and then walked to Paris gare de l’Est and caught the 12:27 train to Basel.

From Basel we travelled to Berne and then to Kandersteg, arriving on time at 18:42.

We were met by the Centre mini bus that took all the luggage (and Skip) to the centre while we walked by the River Kander to the centre.

Sunday 3^rd February 2008

On Sunday Breakfast was at 08:00 so that we could catch the bus to Kandersteg village at 09:00 to go to the ski shop to get all our gear.

We then went by chair lift to the Ski Slopes at Oeschinensee for a two hour lesson followed by an afternoon of practice.

Kandersteg had received a heavy fall of snow two days previously, and therefore the snow was perfect and the sun shone all day.

Monday and Tuesday

Each day we travelled to and from the ski lift by bus

Before starting the day’s exercise warm ups with the Pinkies were required:

Skiing and Snowboarding.

On Monday evening we went Sledging
